The Journey

Born in Minnesota and raised in Missouri, I chose to study in my native Midwest at the University of Iowa, graduating with a Bachelor of Music in trombone and a Bachelor of Arts in German and French. After playing a decade in symphony orchestras in Germany and marrying a brilliant English ballet dancer from the Koblenz Opera House, I completed my translation certification for German, French and English in West Germany’s post-war capital Bonn before joining the Language Services department of Siemens Power Generation Group in Offenbach and Erlangen. There, I gained years of extensive experience translating the vast range of commercial, technical, legal, and logistical documentation required in English to win, plan and execute major energy infrastructure projects. There was no better training ground and professional home than this rigorous trilingual immersion in state-of-the-art engineering and international business, with every day bringing new topics and daunting challenges that all had to be mastered perfectly.

Since returning to the United States and settling in the renowned university town of Ann Arbor, Michigan, I continue serving Siemens as a contractor, and now other businesses and organizations across a broad swath of sectors. Recent projects have delved into additive manufacturing, the digital transformation, data protection, emobility, climate change and its socioeconomic impacts, environmental protection, financial instability wrought by sociopolitical unrest, and corporate restructuring aimed at adapting to changing markets and macro trends.

I’m always delighted to apply my translation skills to challenging new topic areas. Continuous innovation and reinvention are essential and exhilarating.
